Balenciaga 360° Stirs Up a Storm for Winter 2022 Collection
Balenciaga takes the term “winter” very literally in their 2022 presentation, with gusty winds and simulated snow pummeling models as they strutted down the catwalk. One may be reminiscent of snow globes whilst taking in the display.
Classic looks are pared down and redrawn, letting bold silhouettes stand out. Hybrid stretch dresses and bodysuits fit and fall in new ways by combining gloves, shoes, pants, trains, or leggings. Staples, like turtlenecks, pants, and jersey hoodies are partially destroyed, shrunken, or oversized. Accessories are enlarged and exaggerated, emphasizing reuse and alternative materials. Faux-feather boas are made with frayed organza.
A mycelium-based new material called EPHEA™ is introduced. It’s designed specifically to diminish its footprint and the vegetative material emits low traces of CO2 as it feeds on various atmospheric residues.
