Chanel Takes A Soft Approach to Spring Summer 2024

Chanel’s Spring Summer 2024 runway show is a real treat in that nothing is taken too serious and everything feels a bit easier, cooler and accessible. The layering was heavy, making for extra goodies in tow for fans of the brand. Of course the enviable accessories were aplenty, with a plethora of new handcrafted leather goods, however, it’s the clothing itself that really shone bright.

“This Spring-Summer 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection is an ode to liberty and to movement, and tells a story that has its origins in the gardens of the villa Noailles,” explains Virginie Viard.

Playful layers full of stripes, multicolor tweeds, sheer offerings and new patterns in tantilizing color were showcased in approachable ways, sure to appeal to the masses. Jumpsuits, crop tops, barely-there shorts and long capes rounded out the collection.

Bathing suits, organza babydolls, sportswear and evening dresses all take the same sun-kissed path. Here, clothes are liberated from constraint and emancipated from structure. Waists are low, heels are flat.

Onlookers saw a return to comfort and a relaxed silhouette versus prior form-fitting showings. One can easily envision themselves traveling abroad in many of the casual ensembles. Denim had a major place in several versions from pants to tops, skirts and in between. Even the evening attire drips with comfortability and mega-ease.

Attendees included a bevy of friends and ambassadors of the house including Penelope Cruz, Camila Morrone, Ann Hsu, Hari Nef, Ariana DeBose, Emilia Clarke, Usher, Amanda Stenberg, Riley Keough, Caroline de Maigret, Chris Rock and more.
