Reimagined Punk Meets Classic Silhouettes fort Chanel’s 2021/22 Cruise Collection
For the Cruise 2021/22 collection, Virginie Viard oversaw duo Inez & Vinoodh, who shot with model Lola Nicon set against the classic backdrop of Chanel’s legendary apartment at 31 rue Cambon, in Paris. The punk-inspired designs are a stark contrast to the baroque décor. You can see the film below:
Due to Covid travel restrictions and continued social distancing, the brand saw some of their celeb Ambassadors and friends of the House pen letters of encouragement and enamor for the collection. Notes come from the likes of Margot Robbie, Lily-Rose Depp, Phoebe Tonkin, Xin Zhilei, Ann Hsu, and more. Robbie muses, “Dreaming of the days when I could jump on a plane [and] be with my Chanel family for the Cruise show!” with Depp echoing sentiments of “How I wish I could be there to discover this beautiful collection.”
Special performances from additional appointed ambassadors are a part of the collection’s debut, including equestrian Charlotte Casiraghi, singer, songwriter, composer, and actress Vanessa Paradis and electro-pop singer Sébastien Tellier.
Expect classic silhouettes reimagined with modern-day punk accents. As has been seen across the board on the runway, Chanel has taken a backseat from some of the more daring evening attire and swapped out with cozy cardigans, practical dresses, and unexpected layering.
