Chic Companions: Celine Printemps 2026 fashion show

The CELINE Printemps 2026 fashion show earlier this month marked a profound homecoming to its Parisian roots at the house’s headquarters at 16 rue Vivienne.

Not only that, it was also one of new beginnings under the creative directorship of Michael Rider, who described the return as both “incredibly emotional” and “a complete joy” as he led the brand’s first physical runway presentation since 2022.

Set against the tranquil backdrop of the city’s “Paris Respire” initiative, the show was an intimate affair with fashion aficionados and celebrity guests, such as Naomi Watts, Ramy Youssef, Alanis Morissette, Dan Levy and more — each gifted with distinctive white silk scarves that served as a symbolic nod to Celine’s Parisian heritage and the collection’s emphasis on meaningful details.

Rider’s debut collection presented an elevated lived-in aesthetic that balanced nostalgia with contemporary sophistication, embodying his philosophy of “clothing that lives on” — garments designed as companions to capture moments in time, while evolving with their wearers, imbued with memories and fantasy through the past, the present, and the future.

Reimagined sartorial classics, such as blazers and trousers, were a blend of French chic and contemporary fluidity, cut and tailored to feel less rigid and more alive in movement–familiar in fit yet refreshingly new.

Strategic pops of bold color punctuated the overarching restrained palette, adding a breath of vitality without overwhelming the refined aesthetic, while textural variety played a crucial role, with wool suiting, denim, leather, and cotton blends thoughtfully balanced to achieve both structure, edge, and softness.

“Celine stands for quality, for timelessness and for style — ideals that are difficult to catch, and even harder to hold on to, to define, despite more and more talk about them out there,” Rider shared. “We worked on translating them into a way of dressing that becomes a part of the wearer’s life — that attitude, or attitudes, that we feel describe who we are and what we stand for.”
